I have a L48 tlb and am approaching 10 hours. I want to grease the fittings. The manual says use extreme pressure wit high moly content. I can't find it locally, I can find Mobil 1 synthetic extreme pressure, Multi purpuse lithium, and boat trailer bearing grease. Any info would be appreciated.

I use EP-2 multi purpose lithium based. You can get it at Sam's Club for 16 something, for a case of 20 tubes. ....

I use Mobil Moly 52 (it's a ngli 2 grease) it is very high in moly and is designed for off road heavy equipment pins etc found on loaders excavators and backhoes. Not to mention truck spring shackles, u-joints...
Bottom line use what you have avaiable and grease it often. It will last a long time. Do not worry about excess grease around pins it helps trap and keep dirt out. ....

Had the same problem, tried NAPA, TSC, WalMart, etc. Finally found Moly EP at a local IKT (stands for IL/KY/TN) auto parts store. Later I found that my Kubota dealer carries it in Kubota brand, maybe $2.35 a tube, so I started buying it from him. I should have looked there first and saved all the trouble!!!

I would think that the boat bearing grease is more than adequate. What you are looking for is a non surfactant grease so that water is not drawn into the grease as the implement may sit for a while.
Li is used as the salt for the surfactant molecule therefore you do not want lithium grease. The surfactant is used in the oils to thicken it, like butter, but will draw water into it over time. This is similar to a regular motor oil and a non surfactant oil used for electric motors.
Moly disulfide is also used to thicken the oil and will coat surfaces if it gets too hot. ....

Thanks for all the posts.
My dealer is about 70 miles away.
I found that hard to believe being on Long Island NY., about 50 miles from NY city. There are several JD dealers. Someone should serve this area there is $$$ money to be made.
I am going to take a trip to the dealer, But wanted as much info as possible so I can purchase all the right oils, filters and grease and not forget anything hopefully.
I just recently built a 3 car garage,(not intended for our cars), 1 bay for family stuff, 2 bays for my tools etc. Then I purchased the L48. ofcourse all the garage doors are 7' high so my machine wood not enter!! I used the tractor yesterday and did not cover it for it was late, It rained last night, first time and I WAS NOT TO HAPPY!! So I just completed a three sided structure with gable roof behind the garage with a wood frame and tarps to cover roof and 2 sides, existing garage forms 3rd side, (about $150 in materials). It sure beats having to cover it with a tarp, what a pain in the ass.
I will need to get a Building permit to put up a more permanent structure but this will do for now, let it rain. I am very happy with the tractor. ....

I'm sure JD grease would be fine in your tractor. It's just grease so I don't think your orange tractor would suffer from organ rejection or anything :) ....

Peters,
Just curious here but if lithium draws water, why do they put it in waterproof grease? ....
